Our Team
Malcolm RoggeMalcolm came to the firm in 2010 with a strong background of several years experience in legal research including for a provincial attorney general’s department. He currently works for the firm as a legal research associate in the area of aboriginal law preparing research memoranda for the firm in the areas of aboriginal law and in resources and environmental law, Charter of Rights and aboriginal communities, and Aboriginal and Treaty rights, amongst other areas. In addition to being a lawyer, called to the bar in Ontario in January 2010, he is also an accomplished documentary filmmaker whose work has focused primarily on human rights, aboriginal and environmental law. Malcolm has worked with several organizations in Canada and Ecuador, including the Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy, the Chiefs of Ontario, the Center for Economic and Social Rights and the renowned Ecuadorian environmental organization, Acción Ecológica. He completed the joint J.D./Masters program in law and environmental studies at York University and Osgoode Hall Law School. In addition to producing and directing the international award-winning feature documentary film Under Rich Earth, Rogge has published academic articles on environmental conflict and human rights in The Texas International Law Journal, Third World Legal Studies, The Canadian Journal of Development Studies and Refuge: Canada’s Periodical on Refugee Studies. He is currently working on a new documentary film related to international humanitarian law. Malcolm has a J.D. from Osgoode Hall and an M.E.S. from York University, a B.A. First Class Hons (Manitoba), CERLAC Graduate Diploma (Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean, York University), and is a Member of the Bar of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association and the Documentary Organization of Canada. |
